Kent Leeward has aviation and Leeward Air Ranch in his blood. As the second son of the Leeward family, Kent was involved in the community's earliest days, when the dream of an aviation neighborhood built for pilots, by pilots, first took shape in 1980. During those formative years, the family visited more than 25 airport communities across the country to study what worked and what didn't, gathering ideas that would eventually shape Leeward Air Ranch into the gated, sport aviation community it is today. Kent holds a personal piece of that history himself, having made his first solo flight at Leeward Air Ranch in the family's J-3 Cub.

After those early years, Kent's path took him outside aviation for a time, where he built and operated a chain of retail cellular stores across North Florida and South Georgia. In 2006, he returned home to Ocala, bringing that business experience back to the community his family helped build. Today, Kent leads all operations at Leeward Air Ranch, overseeing association management, airport management, and sales and marketing for the community.

Leeward Air Ranch is known for its 6,200 foot runway with pilot-controlled lighting, along with a community center, playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts, all set within a private, gated airpark built for pilots who want to live with their planes.
